As part of our preparation for winter temperatures, we’ll be hosting a series of public turnings and compost education events at our network sites in River West. We’ll be getting things ready for winter, moving compost, helping gardeners winterize their beds, and learning about compost pile maintenance and troubleshooting. We’ve got lots of compost, so bring something to haul it away in and take your fill. Snacks are on us!
We’ll be kicking things off November 1 at Auer and Dousman in River West. Free refreshments, good conversation, and compost! Bring a bucket if you want some fresh compost to tuck your garden to bed. Saturday, November 1, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Bring work gloves.
Next up will be on November 15 at our site at the Scooter Foundation Garden on Buffum and Wright. Later, on November 22, we’ll pay a visit to the Booth & Chambers Community Garden for more compost fun.
All these turnings will be held from 12 to 2 p.m., are free and open to all ages, and social-educational in nature. Grab a friend and help us turn some kitchen garbage into healthy dirt for the garden. See you there.
